Community Outreach

We’re proud to be headquartered in Norwich, Connecticut, where we were founded close to 200 years ago. We’re located close to our agents and in the heart of the communities we serve, work, and live in across the states of CT, MA, and RI. We’re proud to support our communities through our partnership with the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut and many local agencies delivering services and support directly to those most in need across our footprint. The causes are many and our support is led and delivered through the collective efforts of our committed employees who contribute financially and in a ‘hands on’ way through countless hours of volunteering & service each year. Being an active, productive member of the community is part of our mission, but it’s more than that. Our Community is the framework in which we exist, compete, and succeed over time. The stronger the framework, the greater the opportunity for NLC to create & deliver value long-term for our customers, employees, agents, and community stakeholders…

THE UNITED WAY OF SOUTHEASTERN CONNECTICUT, PARTNERS FOR A LIFETIME

We are happy to share that our 2022 United Way Campaign enabled us to contribute over $87,000 to support many critical United Way programs here in Southeastern Connecticut. NLC is proud of our association with the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut and with the help of employees, agents and friends we’ve been able to donate over $1 million since 2009.

THE UNITED WAY DAY OF CARING, SEPTEMBER 2023

United Way of Southeastern Connecticut Day of Caring: September 26, 2023

Proud of our team of volunteers who joined with others from around Norwich and Eastern Connecticut to provide support to the incredible staff at St. Vincent de Paul Place Community Center in Norwich, CT. Our mission was to tackle a wide variety of critical projects in support of their ongoing work serving those in the local community who are most in need.

United Way Day of Caring NLC Team

We also had the opportunity to join with well over 100 members of the community who visited the center for a warm meal at lunch time. If you haven’t had a chance before, we encourage you to take a few minutes to learn more about the great work St. Vincent’s does day in and day out here in town. Well managed and just incredible in the breath of help and services they deliver, yet they’re almost entirely dependent on their over 200 part-time volunteers and the generosity & support from those more fortunate through organizations like the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut.

Special thanks to our NLC volunteers…Cheryl Bower, Merle Perkins, Brittany Parcak, Carl Krauss, Cathy Lopes, Mary Loubier, and Paul Chmura. Thank you for all your hard work! And thanks to all our colleagues & teammates who kept things running smoothly back at the office for our agents and customers!
