Our Community

We’re proud that our headquarters is in Norwich, Connecticut. The home office is located close to our agents and in the heart of the communities we serve, work, and live in across the states of CT, MA, and RI.

We’re proud to support our communities through our partnership with the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut and many local agencies delivering services and support directly to those most in need across our footprint. The causes are many and our support is led and delivered through the collective efforts of our committed employees who contribute financially and in a ‘hands on’ way through countless hours of volunteering & service each year. Being an active, productive member of the community is part of our mission, but it’s more than that. Our Community is the framework in which we exist, compete, and succeed over time. The stronger the framework, the greater the opportunity for NLC to create & deliver value long-term for our customers, employees, agents, and community stakeholders…

March 2025: Volunteering

“I just wanted to drop a note and thank you all again for volunteering down at the Gemma Moran United Way/Labor food distribution center in New London. Representing NLC, we made a big impact for the good people running the center day in and day out, and more importantly, for all the people in need across SE CT who are served the food distributed/delivered through the center to dozens of local agencies, shelters, and church groups every day. I hope you enjoyed the experience of working hard, getting a ton accomplished, but also having some fun together in the process. Well done team!!”

October 2024: United for Gemma Benefit Gala

We are happy to be a sponsor of the United for Gemma Benefit Gala. Thank you to the United Way of Southeastern CT and the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center for your dedication to eliminating food insecurity across New London County.

We are proud to support Gemma’s legacy and vision for the future!

February 2024: Volunteering with United Way

Recently members of our NLC team landed at the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center in New London for a day of volunteering. We are always grateful for the experience and continue to learn more about the needs of many families here in Southeastern CT. Did you know that one in eight children (12.3%) is considered food insecure? When children lack the necessary nutrition they have a difficult time concentrating in school putting their education in jeopardy…their current and future health is put at risk. Since 1988, the food center has been there to help. Last year alone they distributed over 1.8 million meals and snacks through dozens of local member agencies of the food center at no cost to those in need. Each month, over 22,000 people throughout Southeastern, CT are served through these programs. We’re proud of our partnership with United Way of Southeastern Connecticut and our employee volunteers who support the mission and important work of the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center in New London, CT. Special thanks to Cathy Lopes, Cheryl Bower, Diane Lewis, Mary Loubier, Duc Ngo, and Paul Chmura for your recent day of service at the food center warehouse.

November 2023

The results of our United Way Campaign are in and we couldn’t be more proud of the response from our employees. Here is a note from Steve about the Campaign:

I am pleased to report we blew away our goal and raised $100,191! This is our largest contribution ever and makes this year’s campaign a huge success!

“I want to sincerely thank all of you who participated this year. A special thanks as well to the members of the Events Committee who planned and supported the activities during campaign week. I can’t think of a time when our contributions have been needed more than right now. I am proud that we will be able to exceed our contribution from prior year and will be able to help our less fortunate neighbors at a time when it is sorely needed.

Thank you again!”

September 2023

Thank you to Cheryl Bower! Cheryl is a Recovery Specialist and longtime employee in our Claims dept. Cheryl took the initiative to organize a food drive here at NLC for the month of July and invited our employees to contribute. She was inspired by an appeal made through her local Roman Catholic parish.

Congratulations and thank you to all who contributed! Cheryl, special thanks for your initiative and leadership on this special project!
